Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the school or educational library.
- Organize, classify, catalog, and maintain books, periodicals, reference materials, and digital resources.
- Maintain accurate records of library materials and circulation activities.
- Assist students and teachers in locating appropriate books and learning resources.
- Support students with research, information-search, and reference activities.
- Promote reading, independent learning, and effective use of library resources.
- Develop and maintain an organized and welcoming library environment.
- Manage the borrowing, returning, renewal, and reservation of library materials.
- Monitor the condition of books and other library resources and coordinate repairs or replacements when required.
- Assist with selecting and acquiring new books, educational materials, and digital resources.
- Maintain an up-to-date library catalog and database.
- Provide guidance on appropriate online and digital research resources.
- Organize reading programs, book displays, library activities, and educational events.
- Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum-related research and learning activities.
- Help students develop information-literacy and research skills.
- Maintain appropriate library rules and encourage responsible use of resources.
- Prepare library reports, inventory records, and usage statistics when required.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks and identify missing, damaged, or outdated resources.
- Stay informed about suitable educational publications, digital resources, and library practices.
- Support school events, academic programs, and other activities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a school, academic, public, or educational library is preferred.
- Knowledge of cataloging, classification, circulation, and library-resource management.
- Familiarity with library management systems and digital databases.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrative staff.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of information-literacy and research-support practices.
- Ability to encourage reading and independent learning among students.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- UAE or Dubai education or library experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with digital learning resources and educational technology is beneficial.
